Intelligent Acoustic Analysis System for Power Plants: Fitting Equipment with an "Intelligent Stethoscope"

2026-04-13

The core equipment in power plants, such as generators, transformers, and wind turbines, are like the "heart" of energy supply. Their normal operation is directly related to the stable supply of electricity. However, these devices work at high intensity all year round and are prone to wear and tear and malfunctions. Traditional inspection methods rely entirely on manual patrols and experience-based judgments, which are not only time-consuming and labor-intensive but also prone to missing minor hidden dangers. For instance, minor wear inside the equipment or small leaks in pipelines are invisible to the naked eye and inaudible to the ear. If not detected in time, they can lead to equipment damage and sudden shutdowns, causing significant losses.

To address this challenge, HizTech has launched the HIZ-GE-HSW power plant acoustic intelligent analysis system. Simply put, it is like installing a "smart stethoscope" on all the equipment in the power plant, enabling 24/7 monitoring of the equipment's operational sounds to promptly identify potential issues and safeguard equipment safety.

This system is easy to use and does not require complex operations. Its core function is "listening to sounds and identifying anomalies." It installs high-sensitivity sound sensors on the equipment, which act like sensitive ears, capable of accurately capturing the operational sounds of the equipment itself, filtering out extraneous noise, and retaining only the key sound signals that indicate the equipment's "health status."

What's even more intelligent is that the system first memorizes the normal operational sounds of each device, creating a "sound profile" for each one. When the equipment is operating normally, the sounds are stable and regular; but once a problem occurs, such as bearing wear or loose parts, the operational sounds will change slightly. Even the slightest anomaly can be immediately detected by the system, which can quickly determine "what's wrong and how serious the problem is."

Upon detecting an anomaly, the system will immediately issue an alert, whether through on-site audible and visual alarms or push notifications to the staff's mobile phones or computers, ensuring that maintenance personnel are informed in real-time to arrange repairs promptly and prevent minor issues from escalating into major faults. Moreover, the installation of this system is particularly convenient. It does not require equipment shutdown or disassembly. The sensors can be attached or clipped onto the equipment and are compatible with various types of power plants, including thermal, hydro, wind, and photovoltaic power stations.

With this "smart stethoscope," the maintenance work in power plants becomes much easier. There is no longer a need for daily manual inspections, reducing labor costs while enabling early detection of hidden dangers and avoiding equipment shutdown losses. This ensures the continuous stable operation of the equipment in power plants, providing us with safe and stable electricity. It is like a good helper for maintenance personnel, using intelligent technology to make power plant maintenance simpler, more efficient, and safer.
